Reading through the Christmas story

In this message, Mike reflects on the Christmas story as more than a past event—it is the moment God came near. Through Scripture, song, and shared participation, we are reminded that Jesus Christ is Emmanuel, God with us.

We consider one of the revealed names of God, His sustaining breath that gives us life, and the call to live dependent on Him rather than ourselves. As we read the account of Christ’s birth, we are invited to move beyond comfort and complacency, to seek His righteousness, and to allow God’s truth to guide not only our minds but our hearts as well.

This gathering follows the biblical rhythm of reading Scripture and responding in worship, reminding us that Christ humbled Himself, lived without sin, and became the spotless Lamb so that we might be freed from the bondage of sin and walk daily in new life.

Above all, this message calls us to trust God’s Word over our feelings, to be shaped by His truth, and to marvel once again at the miracle of the incarnation—God with us.
