Fireside Friday: Bold Faith

Across Russia in the late 1800s, the largest land mass on the planet, the Spirit of God was at work. Among the lower classes, the Stundists were active. German settlers around Odessa were forbidden to evangelize their Russian farm hands, but their evening stund, or Bible study, was used to convict and convert many to the Lord. Meanwhile Lord Radstock and others were preaching the gospel among the upper class. It was this mighty movement that first the Orthodox Church leaders tried to stop, and then the Communists from 1913 on. But all they did in trying to stamp out the fire was spread it far and wide across the land. And Baedeker, the subject of this story, was used by the Lord in both palace and prison in those momentous days.
