Fireside Friday: Worthy of Riches

What precious treasures our children are! Yet around the world these vulnerable ones are often collateral damage in the battle. Imagine those who face martyrdom and must leave their children behind. Or those, who because of their faith, place their little ones in danger by oppressive regimes. Think too of missionaries and the toll families take in lands of war, disease and unsafe conditions. But two difficult facts are clear. First, that the Lord loves our children even more than we do, and has set them apart for special care (1 Cor 7:14). Second, that our prior love must be to the Lord, even over our little ones (Mt 10:37). This story sheds light on the jewels the Lord is gathering for His diadem and the faith of a mother who believed He is worthy even of this.
