Mini-Message Monday: Clean, Empty & Available

The Jews faced a monumental challenge. The walls of Jerusalem were in ruins, and the enemy came and went at will. The people were demoralized and had given up on ever seeing the City of God’s Name restored. Now Nehemiah was a cup bearer, not a construction engineer. And old Salem straddles abrupt hills and deep valleys. There was rubble everywhere. And the people he had to work with were not stone masons. There are listed priests, women, jeweler’s sons, and pharmacists. There were constant threats and danger of attack. “Well,” says Nehemiah, “if God is overseeing the security detail, the supply department, and has guaranteed the project’s success, let’s get busy.” May the spirit of Nehemiah grip our hearts again!
