Through-the-Bible Thursday: JAMES

Through-the-Bible Thursday: JAMES (4 mins) — The Epistle by James might well be called a How-to Handbook on Holiness. To the believers of Galatia, Paul called James (along with Peter and John) “pillars” of the church. The Greek for “pillar” comes from a word meaning “to stiffen.” James is straight up and down, isn’t he! And he wants to help stiffen up the Christians too, so as overcomers they can also have an honored place in God’s temple (Rev 3:12). As the pillar and ground of the truth, we are privileged to hold up that beautiful capital for all to see, and James wants us to be one of those blessed ones who “will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him” (Jas 1:12).
