Baptism

This past Sunday was a truly special day as we gathered to witness and celebrate three baptisms! John shared a powerful message on the meaning of baptism, reminding us that it’s not what saves us, but rather a public declaration of our faith in Jesus Christ.

John’s Message: Obedience and Transformation
John took us through two powerful Bible stories that highlight the importance of obedience to God:

Naaman’s Healing (2 Kings 5) – Naaman, a powerful military leader, had leprosy. When told to wash in the Jordan River to be healed, he was reluctant—thinking it was beneath him. But once he humbled himself and obeyed, he was completely healed. John reminded us that sometimes, God’s instructions don’t always make sense to us, but obedience leads to blessing.

The Ethiopian Eunuch’s Baptism (Acts 8) – In this story, the eunuch was reading Isaiah 53 but didn’t fully understand it. Philip explained how it pointed to Jesus, and the eunuch, realizing the truth, immediately wanted to be baptized. Faith comes first, then baptism follows as an outward sign of that faith.

John emphasized that baptism is an act of obedience and a beautiful way to show that we belong to Jesus. It symbolizes dying to our old life and rising again in Christ.

Testimonies of Those Baptized
We were blessed to hear the testimonies of Mike, Calleigh, and Katie before they took this important step of faith.

An Invitation to Obedience
John closed with a simple but powerful reminder: Baptism doesn’t save us, but it’s a step of obedience that every believer should take. He even gave an open invitation—”There’s always room for one more!”

As we reflect on this incredible day, let’s ask ourselves: Are we walking in obedience to God? Whether it’s through baptism or simply trusting Him more each day, we are called to follow Him wholeheartedly.

If you’ve been thinking about baptism, don’t wait—God is calling you to take that step! 💙
